Piper Single and Twin Comanche Arapaho Dorsal Fin |
![]() |
The Arapaho Dorsal Fin
kit was derived from the last Comanche ever built, the Arapaho
PA-40. It was designed by Piper for two reasons; to add more
directional stability in cruise, and to lower Vmc.
Knots 2U has used the Piper design and added a hidden antenna feature that allows the com antennas to be located under the fin for further drag reduction. |

For cabin air, a newly
designed more efficient NACA duct pushes air into a plenum built right
into the fin. The plenum then uses the aircraft's existing vent
system to distribute the air through the cabin. This new system
provides up to 20% more air than the original. The dorsal fin is made from advanced vinylester resin for a superb weight to strength ratio. |
